Have you ever asked yourself if you are living a conscious life? Continue reading to find some tips that will help you live more consciously and in harmony with yourself and the world around you.

Living a more conscious life is about being mindful of the choices you make and how they affect your own wellbeing, the wellbeing of others, and the wellbeing of the planet.

It’s about questioning your actions and aligning them with your personal beliefs so we can begin to live a life that reflects our morals and values.

Conscious living also means being aware of what is happening around you, aware of the people around you, and the words they say. It means becoming more aware of the environment in which you are living, acting and working.

Conscious living expands and sharpens your awareness of deep truths, the meaning of life, your inner self, and your real essence.

There’s no right or wrong way to live consciously. It will look a little differently for everyone. The best way to get started is to make one small change at a time, work at it until it becomes a habit, and then build from there. 

Asking yourself the following questions can help you find your priorities: 

  • Am I being true to my personal beliefs and values?

  • Am I devoting my money, energy, and time to the things that are important to me?

  • Do I feel like I am living my best life?

  • Do I wish I had more time to spend on myself or with family and friends?

  • Am I being honest to myself?

  • What is important to me?

  • Do I take time out for myself ?

  • Are your actions having a positive impact on you, your family and friends and the planet?

Tips to help you start living a more conscious life...

Be aware of your thoughts

Put some effort and attention into becoming more conscious and aware of your thoughts. In other words, pay attention to the thoughts that pass through your mind.

You might not be able to do this always, but even if you are able to do so several times a day, that would be a great start.

Think before you act

Do not to rush into anything without thinking first. Look at the situation before you act.

Develop a degree of willpower

This will give you the ability to have more control of yourself, your thoughts, and your actions.

Do not react immediately

Take some time to think before reacting in anger or resentment. This will give you time to regain your poise.

Focus and concentration

Try and focus on what you’re doing. Enjoy the process and give it your full attention.

Expand your viewpoint

Attempt to see everything from a wider point of view, beyond your ego, your beliefs, and what is possible or impossible.

Think about how your purchases impact the world

How do your lifestyle and the things you consume impact others and the planet? How do they impact the voiceless and powerless?

Respect people and be patient

Respect people’s opinions and beliefs, even if they differ from yours. You can disagree with them, but this does not mean spoiling your relations with them.

Get out of your comfort zone

Getting out of it, no matter how uncomfortable this might be, would bring new experiences, new life and improvement.

Try mindfulness and meditation

This will improve your focus and awareness. They also help you become fully present. This means that you are fully focused on the present, on the here and now.

Start a gratitude journal

Writing down what your are grateful for really helps you focus on the positives in your life.

Live in the present

Focusing on the present and living in it enables you to enjoy it more. When you make your present a good place to live in, your future would improve too, because what we do now impacts the future.

Think about how you spend your time

Consider keeping a log of everything you do each day over the course of a week. Think of it as doing a time audit to really understand how you spend your time.

Are you spending a lot of time doing things that aren’t important to you? It’s time to be more conscious about how you’re spending your time.

And finally reflect...

Take a step back and reflect.

Are you living your life and presenting yourself in a way that you can be proud of? If not, it’s time to rethink your priorities and make some conscious, positive changes!

It’s important that your life and values are in alignment it will help you live more consciously.
